Laser sintering is an additive manufacturing process using powdered material fused layer by layer by a laser. This also enables the production of complex three-dimensional components with overhangs and undercuts. Such geometries are not possible with conventional manufacturing methods. Laser sintering is ideal for rapid prototyping and small series production. A related technology is selective electron beam melting (EBM).
